Tussionex Suspension

A healthcare provider may prescribe Tussionex® Pennkinetic® (hydrocodone polistirex/chlorpheniramine polistirex) to help relieve or prevent upper respiratory symptoms caused by allergies or the common cold. Specifically, this medicine can help treat coughing, sneezing, and a runny nose.
 
Tussionex only comes in one form and strength -- Tussionex Pennkinetic Extended Release Suspension. Each teaspoon (5 mL) of this medication contains 10 mg of hydrocodone and 8 mg of chlorpheniramine. It is typically taken twice daily, with about 12 hours between doses.
 
In most cases, people tolerate this medication well. However, side effects can occur and may include dizziness, drowsiness, and constipation.
