Tussionex Cough Syrup

Tussionex® Pennkinetic® (hydrocodone polistirex/chlorpheniramine polistirex) is a combination medication available only with a prescription. Because it contains both a narcotic cough suppressant and an antihistamine, Tussionex can help treat several upper respiratory symptoms caused by allergies or the common cold.

Available in the form of a cough syrup, Tussionex is taken twice a day, with about 12 hours between doses. Possible side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, and constipation.

It is important to take this medication as directed. Do not use a kitchen spoon to measure a dosage; use an oral syringe, medicine cup, or accurately marked measuring spoon to make sure you are getting the correct amount.
