Who Should Not Take Tavist?

According to the prescribing information for the prescription version of Tavist, you should not take Tavist if you are:
 
  • Allergic to Tavist, clemastine fumarate, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Breastfeeding (see Tavist and Breastfeeding), although some sources consider occasional doses of Tavist to be compatible with breastfeeding.
     
  • Taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) medication (see Tavist Drug Interactions).
