Tavist Dosage: An Introduction
There is only one standard recommended dose of
Tavist® Allergy (
clemastine fumarate). As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Tavist Dosing for Adults and Older Children
The recommended dosage for treating
common cold or
allergy symptoms in adults and children 12 years old and up is one tablet (1.34 mg of
clemastine fumarate) every 12 hours, not to exceed two tablets in 24 hours (unless your healthcare provider recommends a higher dosage).
Children under the age of 12 should not take Tavist.
General Dosing Information
Considerations for people taking Tavist include the following:
- This medication comes in tablet form. It is taken by mouth, usually every 12 hours.
- You can take Tavist with food or on an empty stomach. If the medication seems to bother your stomach, try taking it with a little food.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as directed.
