Generic Tavist

Tavist® Allergy (clemastine fumarate) is a non-prescription medication used for treating symptoms of the common cold and allergies (such as hay fever). It belongs to a group of medications known as antihistamines.
 
Brand-name Tavist is made by Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. The patents for the active ingredient of Tavist have long expired, and the medication is available in generic form.
 
Generic Tavist (as well as brand-name Tavist) comes in one strength -- clemastine fumarate 1.34 mg tablets. Generic clemastine fumarate syrup and 2.68 mg tablets are also available, but these are prescription-only products.
 
Generic Tavist is made by a few different manufacturers, such as:
 
  • Perrigo
  • Sandoz.
