Sudafed PE Drug Interactions

Certain drugs, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants, may interfere with Sudafed PE. Results of these interactions could include high blood pressure and possibly even life-threatening complications. To avoid any drug interactions with Sudafed PE, make sure to talk to your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking.

Sudafed PE Interactions: An Overview

Sudafed PE® (phenylephrine hydrochloride) can potentially interact with a number of other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with Sudafed PE include (but are not limited to):
 
  • Iobenguane I 123 (AdreView)
     
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:

 

 

 

 

(It should be noted that there are several different Sudafed PE medications, many of which contain additional active ingredients other than phenylephrine. This article focuses primarily on the single ingredient phenylephrine, not the products with other active ingredients.)
