Sinupret for Kids

Sinupret® is a popular herbal supplement claimed to support healthy sinus and respiratory function. It is one of the most commonly prescribed products in Europe and is gaining popularity in the United States. Although the European versions of this medication are sold under different names, they contain the same active ingredients as the versions available in the United States (Sinupret Plus and Sinupret for Kids).
Sinupret for Kids comes in syrup form and is approved for children as young as two years old (children 12 years old and up can take Sinupret Plus). Dosing for the children's formulation varies by age as follows:
  • Age 2 to 5 years old -- 2.1 mL or ½ teaspoonful three times daily
  • Age 6 to 11 years old -- 3.5 mL or ¾ teaspoonful three times daily
  • Age 12 years old and up -- 7 mL or 1 and ½ teaspoonfuls three times daily.
Although Sinupret seems to be relatively safe for many people, as with any medication or supplement, it can cause side effects. Some of the side effects that have been reported with this supplement include stomach upset, skin irritation, and dizziness.
