Delsym Cough Syrup
Delsym® (dextromethorphan polistirex) is a cough suppressant that is available without a prescription. Unlike many over-the-counter (OTC) cough medications, it provides 12-hour relief, with a specially designed formulation that allows for immediate relief after you take a dose and then continuous relief for 12 hours. Available in the form of a cough syrup, Delsym comes in either orange or grape flavor.
It is important to take this medication as directed. Do not use a kitchen spoon to measure a dosage; use the dosage cup that comes with the medicine to make sure you are getting the correct amount. Although this cough syrup is similar to morphine and other opioids, it does not have the same addictive effects. Delsym does, however, have hallucinogenic effects like phencyclidine (PCP or "angel dust") when used in high doses.
