Benzonatate Drug Information

Benzonatate (Tessalon®) is a cough suppressant that works by numbing certain receptors in the airways. It is approved for use in adults and children as young as 10 years old. This drug comes in the following forms and strengths:
 
This product may not be suitable for everyone. Therefore, it's important to review the drug's safety information before starting treatment. For example, possible side effects of benzonatate include:
 
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • A "chilly" sensation
  • Numbness of the chest.
