Augmentin XR Medication Information

Augmentin XR® (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium XR) is an antibiotic used to treat certain types of sinus infections and pneumonia. It contains two different medications: amoxicillin (a penicillin antibiotic) and clavulanate potassium (a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps amoxicillin work better). The medicine comes in tablet form and is typically taken twice a day. It should be taken at the start of a meal, as food helps the body absorb it better.
