Augmentin XR® (amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium XR) is a type of antibiotic used to treat sinus infections and cases of pneumonia that are caused by certain types of bacteria. Both brand-name and generic versions of this prescription drug are available in the form of a tablet. Augmentin XR comes in one strength, with 1000 mg of amoxicillin and 62.5 mg of clavulanic acid per tablet. It is typically taken twice a day.
Although it doesn't matter what times of day you take Augmentin XR, the tablets should be taken at the same times each day, with about 12 hours between doses. This will help maintain an even level of the medication in your system.
